Our international visitors say over and over that home stays with local families help them understand American life and culture more than anything else. And just about anyone can do it! All you need is a spare room with an extra bed. While your guests are with you, do what you would normally do and take them along. Show them how you live. Share your life. You’ll find they are eager to listen and learn, and your family will learn about them in return. Hosting is a wonderful educational opportunity and also a great way to dispel negative assumptions about Americans. Show our international visitors that you care. Be a citizen ambassador.

Families are asked to take one or two guests. For stays longer than one week, families may host for part of the time. In some cases a small stipend is available. Families normally provide breakfast and dinner; visitors are busy with program activities and appointments during weekdays.
